Comedy writer Steve Burge dies at 47
Creator of Apple TV's Still Up
Comedy writer Steve Burge has died at the age of 47.
He co-created the 2023 Apple TV comedy-drama Still Up starring Antonia Thomas, Craig Roberts and Blake Harrison and the 2013 Radio 4 comedy, Seekers, set in a JobCentre.
His other credits include Rhys Thomas’s A Year In The Life Of A Year, Shooting Stars and Would I Lie To you?
United Agents, which represented him, broke the news of his death in a statenent saying: ‘We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our client, Steve Burge.
‘Steve was a gifted writer, known for his work on Still Up, Seekers and Would I Lie To You?.
‘Over the weekend, we lost a wonderful talent, but also someone who was widely admired and respected across the industry. His most recent sketch, The Bank Job for Comic Relief, was a huge success and a testament to his creativity and skill.
‘Steve will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.’
He also made a number of appearances on programmes including Tittybangbang, The Life of Rock with Brian Pern and Bang, Bang, It's Reeves and Mortimer.
