Comics to star in 12 Angry Men parody

23 years after a similar - but sincere – Edinbugrh Fringe show

A spoof version of 12 Angry Men starring a cast of stand-ups is heading to the Edinburgh Fringe - 23 years after a similar – but sincere – production  was the talk of the festival.

Comic Owen O’Neill,  pictured, who adapted the 1957 film for the 2003 production, has also written this parody, entitled 11½ Angry Men. He will also be back on stage alongside  Ian Coppinger, Phil Nichol,  and actor David Calvitto, who appeared in that show.

They will be joined by fellow comics Joe Pasquale, Spencer Jones, Andrew Maxwell, Stephen K Amos, Terry Alderton, Mark Maier, Glenn Wool, JJ Whitehead.

As with the Sidney Lumet film, the plot of the spoof revolves around a jury trying to decided the fate of a boy accused of a heinous murder in 1950s New York City. But the blurb for this parody asks: ‘Will a lethal German sausage save him?’, which was not part of the original.

11½ Angry Men will be produced by Guy Masterson, who as also behind the 2023 version, which also starred  Bill Bailey, Dave Johns and the late Andy Smart

It will be on at the Pleasance EICC from August 6 to 22.
