No, Kanye did NOT put comic Jarlath on his list of enemies

But Daily Mail falls for the gag...

comedyIrish comedian Jarlath Regan has been forced to clarify that he was only joking when he said he was mentioned on Kanye West’s list of those who have betrayed him – but not before the Daily Mail fell for it.

The rapper, who has just been denied entry to the UK to play the Wireless festival over his antisemitic behaviour, posted his shit list back in September.

Headed: ‘I am in pain that no one person can fix. The betrayal’, Ye’s list included  the likes of Diddy, Donald Trump, Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson and ‘Adolf’ as well as Curious George,  the cartoon monkey

Yesterday, Regan reposted the list on Instagram, with his own name Photoshopped on to the end.

‘I was as surprised as you. Not entirely sure what I did to make the list,’ the comic said in the accompanying caption. ‘Literally met the lad once in Coppers can’t even remember what I said to him. ????’

Man of Regan’s followers apparently believed it was true, despite the unlikely reference to rowdy Dublin nightclub Copper Face Jacks.

And the Eden Confidential column in today’s Daily Mail has run a story headlined: ‘Comedian left baffled by Kanye "betrayal" claim’, which states: ‘Little-known stand-up comic Jarlath Regan is bemused to find himself among those accused of "betrayal" by troubled rapper Kanye West.’

The journalist clearly didn’t check Ye’s original post – nor see a follow-up video Regan posted yesterday.

‘Guys, I can’t believe I’m jumping on to do this, but I have to,’ the comic said. ‘Yesterday, my wife encouraged me to do a joke that I was somehow on   Kanye West’s list of people that had betrayed him.

‘The list is mental. I think it was a joke. I can’t be sure if Kanye was joking or not, or whether he’s actually angry at Harriet Tubman (his daughter), and Curious George – but I’m not one of the people that he’s been betrayed.

‘I also said that I met him in Copper Face Jacks many years ago. I have to be clear, that didn’t happen.

‘I can’t believe I’m having to jump on and do this but I’ve had to. Stop messaging me asking "why is Kanye West mad at you?"’

But maybe there is yet time for beef, as the comedian admitted: ‘I did call him a gobshite in my book…’
