Diane Morgan's Christmas special pulled at the last minute

The Christmas special of Diane Morgan’s sitcom Mandy has been pulled from the schedules at the last minute.

A new 20-minute episode entitled The Mandy Who Knew Too Much was due to be broadcast on BBC Two on Monday –  but executives have pulled the plug.

Chortle understands there are parts of the episode the BBC wants to 'update'.

While precise details of the storyline have not been released, it had Morgan’s feckless alter-ego dabbling in  global diplomacy and making ‘a real difference to the balance of power in the world’.

That summary suggests the plot could echo real-world events. A number of cast also played military characters, with Richard Goulding – who was Prince Harry in Channel 4’s The Windsors – as Major Perkins; Oliver Woollford as Soldier Ellis and Holby City’s Hugh Quarshie as General Moore.

The Mandy Who Knew Too Much still features in listings magazines as going out  at 10:25pm on Monday, but the episode’s page has vanished from the BBC website and iPlayer.

Its absence was first spotted by the British Comedy Guide – which says the episode was filmed as long ago as January alongside series 4, which aired in the summer.

The BBC said: 'The Mandy Christmas Special has been moved to 2026.'
