Netflix sets a release date for Ricky Gervais’s Mortality

His fourth stand-up special for the streamer

Netflix has today announced that Ricky Gervais’s Mortality will have its global release on Tuesday December 30.

It is the comic’s fourth special for the streamer following Humanity, Supernature, and the Golden Globe-winning Armageddon.

Gervais said: ‘I think Mortality is my most honest and confessional show so far and also my favourite tour. I still can’t believe what a privilege it is to fly around the world making people laugh.’

The show was filmed at the London Palladium earlier this year as part of an 80-date world tour which wraps up this month. The tour included a 14-night run at the London Palladium and three shows at OVO Wembley Arena, while breaking the box office record for English-speaking comedy shows in countries across Europe.

Mortality’s release over the festive period follows Armageddon, which was released on Christmas Day 2023. That show won Gervais a Guinness World Record for ‘the highest gross for a single stand-up performance ever – netting £1.41million for his date at the Hollywood Bowl in May.
