First images from series two of BBC comedy Black Ops

Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun return

The BBC has released the first images from its comedy Black Ops ahead of its return for a second series in January.

Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun are back as Dom and Kay, alongside Akemnji Ndifornyen  as Tevin. 

They are joined for series two by a guest cast including Annette Badland, Cathy Tyson Nigel Havers, below, Ed Speleers and Tom Stourton  with  Jo Martin and Robbie Gee returning from the first season.

Series two finds Dom and Kay working for MI5, but doing unglamorous admin. All that changes when Dom meets a charismatic spy called Steve (Speleers). Soon Dom and Kay find themselves ‘embroiled in an escapade that tests their wits, their friendship, and their love of Carnival, to the limits’.

The first series drew an audience of 2.3million for the first episode and averaged 1.6million across the full series in the first 28 days of broadcast. It was also named best comedy programme at the Broadcast Awards and scooped a Bafta and RTS award for  Ikumelo and an RTS gong for Animashaun.
