Such Brave Girls is back

The best of the week's comedy on TV, radio and on demand

Our pick of the comedy on TV, radio and streaming this week…:

Sunday June 29

FIN TAYLOR: ASK YOUR MOTHER: The provocative comedian's last tour – as recorded at The Forge in Brighton – was released as a full-length special for free on YouTube this morning..

Monday June 30

ED REARDON'S WEEK: Christopher Douglas returns as the grouchy, struggling writer for a 16th series of the radio comedy. This week, he again tries to find a new source of income, maybe looking after horses at The Countrywoman magazine, or possibly by illegally sub-letting his storage cupboard for a tenant wanting an ‘opportunity for boutique capsule living’. BBC Radio 4, 2.15pm

CELEBRITY PUZZLING: Russell Kane's one of the contestants tonight, Les Dennis tomorrow and Wednesday sees a showdown between two major quizzers, Paul Sinha and former EastEnders and Extras star Shaun Williamson. 5, 7pm

DAVE GORMAN: MODERN LIFE IS GOODISH: Another chance to watch the latest three-part series from the comedian and PowerPoint maestro. U&Dave, 10pm

Tuesday July 1

MASIE ADAM: EUROS FEVER The comedian and hardcore football fan is joined by fellow stand-ups Rhys James and Harriet Kemsley to preview the Women’s Euros 2025, which kick off tomorrow, with England and Wales in action on Saturday against France and the Netherlands respectively. BBC Radio 4, 6.30pm

Wednesday July 2

HEADS OF STATE: The usual stunt-filled nonsense in this Netflix action-comedy, in which Idris Elba and wrestler John Cena play the UK Prime Minister and US President run-in with terrorists. Initially rivals, of course, they are 'forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other'.

Thursday July 3

SUCH BRAVE GIRLS: Not sure why this rather good comedy is tucked away on BBC Three (surprisingly, still an actual channel despite being packed full or repeats), but Kat Sader's dysfunctional family sitcom is back for a second series. She stars as Josie alongside her real-life sister, Lizzie Davidson, as Bilie crashing their way through life under the flawed gaze of their single mother Deb (Louise Brealey). Season two promises bigger disasters, worse choices, and hilariously harrowing love stories'. Sadler talks about the show here. BBC Three, 10.05pm

TASKMASTER: It's the grand final of the 19th series and each contestant has chosen to celebrate in their own way: Rosie Ramsey puts a wooden box on her head, Fatiha El-Ghorri kicks in a door, Mathew Baynton threatens a puppy, and Jason Mantzoukas and Stevie Martin establish a thriving local business. Channel 4, 9pm

ASHLEY BLAKER'S HYPERFIXATIONS: The comedian examines how his autism and his ADHD boost his interests in this new series, which also features Rosie Holt and Kieran Hodgson. Each episode focuses on a different one of Blaker's obsessions, starting with 17th-Century English history, which Blaker studied at both Oxford and Cambridge, where he sought to become the first Jewish expert in church history. BBC Radio 4, 6.30pm

Saturday July 5

KAT SADLER'S SCREEN TIME: Hot on the heels of the return of Such Brave Girls on TV comes the comedian's radio series – a cautionary guide to social media and phone use. Sadler stars alongside Abbie Weinstock, Emily Lloyd-Saini, Jason Forbes and Alex Macqueen. BBC Radio 4, 11pm.
