Third and final series for ITV comedy The Dry
ITV has commissioned a third and final series of its comedy The Dry, starring Roisin Gallagher as recovering alcoholic Shiv Sheridan.
The news comes as the second series – which has been streamed 2million times on ITVX - makes its terrestrial debut on ITV1 this summer. The first series was streamed an additional 6.2million times.
The comedy is a joint venture with Irish broadcaster RTE, with a total of 1.2million streams across both series there.
Creator Nancy Harris, who was nominated for a Bafta for writing the first series in 2023, said she was ‘truly thrilled’ that the show would be returning for more episodes in 2026.
She added: ‘Season 3 digs into the roots of the Sheridans’ dysfunctional dynamic, unearthing long-held secrets and taking our characters in new and unexpected directions. It’s going to be a wild ride.’
Emma Norton, executive producer at programme-makers Element Pictures added: ‘The Dry team are all so excited to be able to give the Sheridans their grand finale.
'This season is going to be full of the show’s signature irreverence and pathos and we’re thrilled to be bringing our brilliant cast back together for one last blow-out.’
And Dermot Horan of RTÉ added: ‘The first two seasons of The Dry were hugely popular with our audiences. Nancy Harris has created in the Sheridans that most recognisable and dysfunctional of Irish families, to which we can all relate through their ups and downs.
‘[Director] Paddy Breathnach will once again get the very best of the outstanding ensemble cast led by Roisin Gallagher.’
