Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson to host a Cheers podcast

Star-studded programme Where Everybody Knows Your Name starts next month

Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson are to host a new podcast about their hit sitcom Cheers.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name starts on June 12 and will feature A-list star guests including include Eric Andre, Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, Laura Dern, Jane Fonda, Nick Offerman and Martin Short.

Danson said: ‘Though I’ve always dreaded small talk at a cocktail party, I’ve found that it is a genuine privilege to sit down with someone for a deep, uninterrupted conversation. With this podcast, we’ll do just that

‘And that I get to do it with Woody, my dear friend of many decades, is the cherry on top of the sundae. Each week, we’ll reflect on our own friendship and careers, and get to the core of the special guests who join us. I can’t wait for you to listen."

And Harrelson added: ’The best part about doing this podcast is that it’s given me an excuse to hang out with Ted. Sure, we’ll talk with interesting guests, and sure we’ll share some laughs along the way, but the biggest win will be rekindling our romance, I mean friendship, after all this time. And I’m glad listeners will be able to join us for that.’

The full title of the show – made by Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco podcast network – is Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson & Woody Harrelson (sometimes) , suggesting the latter will not always be there.

Cheers aired for 11 seasons on NBC from 1982 to 1993, and both actors have remained major stars in the ensuing three decades.

Last month, Danson made an appearance on British comic Benjamin Partridge’s Beef and Dairy Network podcast, paying off a long-running joke that the show was in hock to the actor, who is also a loan shark, to the tune of 460million tons of grain

Adam Sachs, senior vice-president of podcast content at broadcaster SiriusXM said: ‘Throughout their storied careers, Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson have shown the world that their skill sets extend well beyond any one medium.

‘With the launch of Where Everybody Knows Your Name,  fans will get to experience a whole new side of these incredible talents through candid, insightful, and always funny conversations with some of today’s most interesting and accomplished people.’

The podcast will be available on all platforms, not just SiriusXM.
