Glutton to explore his lifelong obsession with food

Ed Gamble is writing his first book, about his passion for food.

Glutton: The Multi-Course Life Of A Very Greedy Boy will be published by Transworld in October.

The comic, Off Menu podcast host and Great British Menu judge, said: ‘Somehow I have found time in between meals to write a book about food. Eating is my one true love (apologies, wife) and I’m very excited that I get to Share that passion with you, the money spending general public.’

According to the publishers, Gamble uses his ‘trademark humour to share the standout moments from a life often guided by his insatiable appetite’. They add: ‘ From the tyranny of "children’s food" to his "fat teenage years", to the trials of being a diabetic with a sweet tooth and his own mishaps in the kitchen, he delivers a hilarious and heart-warming memoir of a delightful obsession.’ 

Henry Vines, editorial director at Transworld,  acquired world rights to the book from Gamble’s agent, James Taylor at Avalon.

Vines said: ‘Glutton is a very personal celebration of the joy of food, from a potato smiley to a Michelin starred tasting menu, delivered with lashings of humour.

‘Anyone who has enjoyed Ed’s brilliant judging observations on Great British Menu or wished they could get a table at Off Menu’s dream restaurant will devour this book. It will make you laugh, it might make you cry, and it will definitely make you very hungry.’

Gamble created the  Off Menu podcast with James Acaster – and it has now been downloaded more than 130 million times. He is also a panel show regular, Taskmaster champion, and part-time Pointless host.

Glutton  will be published in hardback, ebook and audio on October 26 and is available to preorder now.
