Flurry of new and extended shows..

Promoters have released a flurry of news about stand-up tours in 2023.

In the last 24 hours, the following have all been announced:

  • Darren Harriott, pictured, who will be in ITV’s Dancing On Ice in the new year, is embarking on his first UK tour, Roadman. The show, which starts on September 13, will be based on his upbringing: after his father took his own life in prison, Darren joined a local gang – and one night the other members turned on him, beating him so badly he woke up in hospital – and he knew it was time to get out.
  • America’s Got Talent’s 2015 champion  Paul Zerdin will be going on tour with his new ventriloquism show Puppetman, starting on September 1 at Southend Palace Theatre. He said: ‘I can’t wait to introduce you to my new characters which have really unsettled my existing dysfunctional sponge family, and it’s my most personal show yet.’
  • Trevor Noah has added a new date at The O2 in London to his Off The Record tour: Friday November 24.
  • Prankster and comedian Simon Brodkin is extending his stand-up tour Screwed Up, which will now run for more than 100 dates, starting on February 23.
  • Seann Walsh has announced five nights of his Back From The Bed tour. The I’m A Celeb star will be at The Lowry in Salford on September 27; Leeds City Varieties on October 4; Birmingham Old Rep on October 5 and  London’s Leicester Square Theatre on November  24 and 25.
  • Rhys Nicholson is to perform a ten-night UK tour Rhys, Rhys, Rhys, which was named most outstanding show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, in the UK next year, followed by five nights at the Soho Theatre in London.
