Isy Suttie announces her first tour in six years
Peep Show star returns to stand-up
Isy Suttie is to go on tour for the first time in six years, with a new show about whether her a sense of adventure has been compromised by settling down and having children.
She has announced 19 dates of her new show Jackpot, starting with a week at London’s Soho Theatre from August 22 and culminating in a hometown gig at Matlock in the Peak District on November 5.
The blurb from producers Headway Talent reads: ‘ Isy’s always searching for adventure in life, but now that she’s a mum with a partner who hates surprises, can she still find it? And why does she need it anyway?
‘Ever since she can remember, she has been searching for ways to make her life more exciting: ouija boards, exploring derelict houses and jumping off things for a bet. She often meets others who share the same love of pushing the boundaries: the Welsh taxi driver who found a mischievous way of brightening up his day, and a neighbour who created a network of tunnels beneath his house just for the fun of it.
‘Now, things have changed: she’s got children of her own and a partner who detests surprises [fellow stand-up Elis James].
‘In her return to live stand-up, she asks whether it’s enough to try and find that buzz on mums’ weekends away or on family walks in the woods, and quite why she continues to hunt for it at all costs.’
As well as her stand-up Suttie is known for playing Dobby in Peep Show, Esther in Shameless and Ally in Man Down. She has also appeared on panel shows including Would I Lie To You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Hypothetical and QI.
She won a gold Sony Award for her BBC Radio 4 series Isy Suttie’s Love Letters, and the paperback of her first novel, Jane Is Trying, will be released in May. Read our review of the hardback edition here.
