Who's cancelled? Louis CK wins a Grammy
Louis CK has won a Grammy award – showing he has been far from cancelled over his sexual misconduct.
His stand-up special Sincerely won best comedy album. ahead of offerings from Lavell Crawford, Chelsea Handler, Lewis Black, Nate Bargatze and Kevin Hart.
The result caused uproar on social media after CK admitted multiple instances of sexual misconduct - including masturbating in front of new female comedians - after women came forward with their stories in 2017.
Here are just some of the outraged tweets:
Louis CK just won a whole ass Grammy while y’all are either calling for Will Smith’s head or crying about cancel culture. There are no consequences for white cishet men

I wonder if the careers of the women comedians Louis CK forced to watch him masturbate—who were allegedly threatened by CK’s manager—have recovered from the stigma of coming forward. Louis CK’s own career seems to have bounced back very well. https://t.co/gaUkkhRDYL

I say this as a former fan but I am really, REALLY not okay with whoever decided to UN-cancel Louis CK. No. Not ever. Did he serve time? Did he go back in time to fix the careers of women he blacklisted from the industry for attempting to speak out about his sexual abuse? NO. https://t.co/TmzmlLf3bJ

We are nowhere close to a reckoning on sexual misconduct, even just in the narrow slice of professional contexts. Because Louis CK, who masturbated in front of women without consent, then derailed careers, just won best comedy album at the #grammyshttps://t.co/qhCY5kACB0

Louis CK just won a fucking grammy for best comedy album. This is beyond disgusting for all victims of SA, but is especially telling of how these revered institutions, in fact, do not give a fuck about victims of violence. They will ALWAYS foster and celebrate violence

Will Smith’s projects are getting cancelled left and right while Louis CK wins a Grammy. If Will Smith just ran on stage and jerked off on Chris Rock his career would be fine

Bo Burnham’s much-acclaimed Inside was not shortlisted in this category, but in the category for best music film – where it lost out to Summer of Soul.
But his track from the Netflix special, All Eyes On Me, was named best song written for visual media.
