Broadcaster has rights to series 2

Channel 4 has snapped up the rights to the satirical period comedy-drama The Great, which will air thus summer

The Emmy-nominated series stars Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great and Nicholas Hoult, as her husband Peter III. Gillian Anderson guest stars in the second series as Catherine’s mother.

Season two was released on Hulu in the US in November, and its ten episodes were previously available in the UK via paid-for streaming service Starzplay.

A third series of the Emmy-nominated show has already been commissioned.

Channel 4 has not yet set an air date for series two in the UK.
