First shows of the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe go on sale

Nina Conti, Angela Barnes and more head to the Pleasance

The first shows have gone on sale for the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe – six months in advance.

Nina Conti, Angela Barnes and Showstopper! The Improvised Musical are among the comedy acts announcing full runs at the Pleasance this August.

Conti will be in the 750-seat Grand at 6pm from August 3 to 28 with her dating show..

She said: ‘I’m so thrilled to be going back to Edinburgh after all this time, it’ll feel like a magic bullet tonic after these last couple of years. It’s easily the most fun, vibrant, and ridiculous arts festival I know and my favourite place to play. I think Edinburgh 2022 is gonna boss it.’

Her show will be followed at 7.50pm by magician Ben Hart, making his return to the Fringe with his show Wonder,  then at 9.30pm by the  Olivier Award-winning Showstopper!

News Quiz and Mock The Week regular Barnes will be presenting her show, Hot Mess, in the Cabaret bar at 7pm nightly – focussing on how good intentions can go awry.

Also announced today is a run from Michael McIntyre and Romesh Ranganathan tour support Jake Lambert, whose show Shimmy Shake: will be at the Baby Grand at 7.05pm.

Camp Mancunican Josh Jones - who was part of the Pleasance Reserve line-up in 2019 – will be presenting his debut, Waste Of Space, in Bunker 3 at 8.30pm.

And Tom Lucy, who’s supported Jack Whitehall on tour, will be performing his new show Melt in the Upstairs venue at 9.45pm.

Also returning to the Pleasance programme will be long-running topical show NewsRevue (at the EICC at 8.15pm); Cirque Berserk! and The Importance of Being... Earnest?, an audience participation shows that was  part of the venue’s reduced offering last year.

Tickets for all the shows are available from the Pleasance website.

Chortle's Fast Fringe will also be returning to the Pleasance Dome every night, but tickets are not yet on sale.
