Mae Martin joins Amazon's LOL: Last One Laughing

Comedy reality series for Prime Video

Mae Martin is taking part in a reality comedy show to air on Amazon's Prime Video service next month.

The British-based stand-up is one of ten Canadian comedians in the new series of LOL: Last One Laughing, in which the aim is to remain straight-faced while fellow competitors do all they can to crack you up.

She will be appearing alongside fellow comedy stars Tom Green, Caroline Rhea, Colin Mochrie Debra DiGiovanni, Jonathan Lajoie, Brandon Ash Mohammed, Andrew Phung, K. Trevor Wilson  and Dave Foley from The Kids In The Hall sketch troupe. Fellow comic by Jay Baruchel hosts the series.

All the competitors are trapped in a house together for six hours – or until they are eliminated. The comedian who doesn’t break a smile and outlasts their competitors wins the grand prize of $100,000 for their charity.

The six-part series uses more than 30 cameras to catch all the comics’ attempts to make their colleagues laugh, including stand-up, musical performance, improvisational, and physical comedy, among others.

LOL: Last One Laughing Canada – which launches on Prime Video on February 18 – follows an Australian version which was released in 2020. That one featured Anne Edmonds, Frank Woodley, Sam Simmons, Joel Creasey, Nazeem ,  Dilruk Jayasinha, Ed Kavalee, Becky Lucas, Nick Cody and Susie Youssef.

Christina Wayne, head of Canadian Originals at Amazon Studios, said: ‘Our commitment to Canadian audiences continues with an LOL that features a star-studded cast and unforgettable moments.’
