Series 4 to be shot in January, star Katy Wix reveals

Ghosts is returning for a fourth series, star Katy Wix has revealed.

The actor, who plays Mary in the BBC One sitcom, confirmed the long-awaited news to rapper Scroobius Pip on his Distraction Pieces podcast.

However she admitted she might have been speaking out of turn when she said the cast would be recording a new series in January.

When asked about her future projects, she told Pip: ‘Ghosts. Am I allowed to say that? I’m always getting into trouble. I get into trouble all the time for announcing things when they haven’t been announced. That starts in January.’

The third series, which aired in August and September, was the most-watched yet, averaging 5.25million viewers over its six episodes when catch-up viewing is included.

The cast have already a made a Christmas special featuring Jennifer Saunders as the mother of Martha Howe-Douglas’s character, Lady Fanny Button. The plot revolves around Button House owners Mike and Alison (Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe_ discovering a man living in a tent on their grounds. 

Ben Willbond, who plays The Captain, previously spoke to RadioTimes.com about a possible fourth series when discussing the writing of the third.

He said: ‘I think this time around in the writing process, as we unearth more, you just go "oh wow, we could do that in series four, but we haven’t got a series four!".

The show also stars Lolly Adefope, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond,

The CBS remake has also been slowly picking up audiences in the States. It launched last month with 5.52million viewers, but last week’s episode attracted 5.94million.
