Peter Kay records The Sound Of Laughter audiobook
15 years after his memoirs were published!
Peter Kay has recorded an audio version of his autobiography The Sound of Laughter – 15 years after it was published.
The comedian has also added two new chapters to the title, which is the bestselling hardback autobiography of all time.
Trade website The Bookseller reports that it has sold more than 850,000 copies in hardback and 1.3 million across all editions since being published in 2016.
The audio version will be released next month by Audible, who say: ‘Grab a brew and some good-for-dipping biscuits and listen to Peter take a trip down memory lane, including his first-ever driving lesson, his Bolton childhood, the numerous jobs he held, right up until he found fame in the world of comedy.
‘The Sound of Laughter observes the absurdities and eccentricities of family life: elderly relatives, garlic bread, cheesecake, weddings, funerals and your mum’s HRT...hear all about it from Peter, read live and direct from his own front room. ‘
Kay returned to the stage this month for two charity Q&As – making rare live appearances since he cancelled a major tour in 2017 for undisclosed family reasons, just after announcing it.
Kay followed The Sound of Laughter with Saturday Night Peter four years later, which has also not had an audiobook release.
The audiobook will be released on September 16, priced £13.12 or free with a trial Audible subscription. Click here to order.
