Catherine Tate's Nan is back

...in a Comic Relief sketch with Daniel Craig as 007

Catherine Tate’s Nan is to make a TV comeback – to interrogate James Bond.

The comic is reviving her most enduring character for a Comic Relief sketch to air on Red Nose Day tomorrow.

Daniel Craig filmed his last outing as 007 for the scene, following the long-delayed No Time To Die, which is finally scheduled to hit cinemas on September 30.

In the new sketch, Nan has taken up a part time job as a cleaner in the Secret Intelligence Service, MI5, when she answers a video call from Bond. He’s expecting a security briefing from M but instead ends up being   grilled by the foul-mouthed Londoner.

Tate said: ‘Nan had a right old time meeting Bond. What a smashing fella! As ever, it was great fun filming this Comic Relief sketch, huge thanks to Daniel and all the Bond team for being such great sports. I hope it raises lots of money on the night.’

It is not the first time Tate has teamed up with Craig for Comic Relief: In 2009 her unlucky-in-love character Elaine Figgis forged a romance with his 007.

Nan’s big-screen debut has also been delayed by coronavirus. Tate has filmed a movie based on the character, co-starring Mathew Horne and Katherine Parkinson and co-written with Brett Goldstein. It was originally been scheduled for release last summer but has yet to see the light of day.

The Comic Relief telethon kicks off on BBC One at 7pm tomorrow.
