BBC Three gets more Shrill

Second series of the Aidy Bryant and Lolly Adefope sitcom will come to the UK

BBC Three has bought the UK rights for the second series of the American sitcom Shrill.

The series stars Saturday Night Live’s Aidy Bryant as Annie – described as an ‘overweight young woman who wants to change her life but not her body’– and Lolly Adefope as c.

Shrill’s second series of eight 25-minute episodes drops on US streaming service Hulu on January 24 and  will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer the following day.

The series picks up with Annie  feeling pretty good after having faced her demons – her mom (Julia Sweeney), her boss (John Cameron Mitchell) and her troll – but the path ahead does not look smooth.

Sue Deeks, head of BBC programme acquisition, says: ‘We are delighted that Shrill’s mix of sharp social commentary, engaging characters and relatable situations have proved to be such a hit with BBC Three viewers.’

All episodes of the first series are available now on iPlayer
