Comedians named for musical panel show

John Thomson, Rob Rouse and Pippa Evans

John Thomson, Rob Rouse and Pippa Evans are all taking part in a new musical-based panel show for BBC Two.

Gareth Malone’s All Star Music Quiz is initially one-off,  in which the celebrity choirmaster challenges two celebrity teams to play the answer on their instruments, as well as say it. Thomson plays drums, Rouse is on guitar and trumpet and Evans on guitar.

Also taking part are former MP Ed Balls on piano, presenter and former member of JLS, JB Gill, also on piano and award-winning saxophonist YolanDa Brown; while the musical director is Richard Beadle, who is currently presiding over West End smash-hit Hamilton.

The show will air as part of  BBC Music Day on September 28.
