Replacing Russell Brand

Jonathan Ross is to join the panel of Comedy Central’s Roast Battle UK, the broadcaster has announced.

He will join Katherine Ryan and host Jimmy Carr for the second series of insult-slinging show when it returns for five half-hour episodes this autumn.

Ross replaces his Sachsgate pal Russell Brand, who was the third member of the panel for the first series earlier this year.

Comedy Central’s Louise Holmes said Ross’s ‘quick-witted brand of comedy makes him a great fit for the show,’ adding: ‘Jonathan is a hugely loved British star; we know fans of the show will be just as excited as we are.’

The first series, which aired in January, was Comedy Central’s highest-rated UK commission ever, peaking at 569,000 viewers on consolidated figures, and with particular appeal to 16-34-year-olds.

Ross already provides the voiceover for the physical gameshow Takeshi’s Castle, which also airs on Comedy Central.
