Julia Davis is making a new comedy series for Sky One

Sally4Ever follows the life of Sally who, for 10 years, has lived a comfortable and dull suburban life with David. But on the night he asks her to marry him, Sally has a crisis and embarks on a wild affair with Emma, a seductive, charismatic, bohemian actress. And  before Sally knows it, Emma has moved in, rearranged the furniture and her life.

Davis plays Emma with Catherine Shepherd, who was April in Peep Show, as Sally and The Thick Of It’s Alex Macqueen as David.

The show also features The Mighty Boosh’s Julian Barratt – Davis’s real-life partner – Joanna Scanlan, also from The Thick Of It; The League Of Gentlemen’s Mark Gatiss and Felicity Montagu from the Alan Partridge series.

Sally4Ever is in production in the UK, with seven half-hour episodes being made for Sky and HBO by production companies Hush Ho and Various Artists Ltd.

Davis said she was ‘so excited to be making this project, and am incredibly lucky to be working with such an outstanding cast’.

Jon Mountague, head of Sky Comedy, added: ‘They say never work with your heroines – balls to that! Julia’s as much fun to work with as her shows are to watch. Hunderby and Camping bear that out and her latest uniquely brilliant comic creation is genuinely breathtaking."

And Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming, added: ‘We’ve been in comedy awe of Julia for many, many years. We’re thrilled to be a part of her latest stroke of genius.’

Davis’s last Sky project, 2016's Camping, is getting an American remake for HBO, starring Jennifer Garner and with Girls creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner as the writers.  Her planned 2015 Channel 4 series, Morning Has Broken, a spoof about breakfast TV, never made it to air.

Sally4Ever will be broadcast later this year.
