Is it adios to Benidorm?
Creator Darren Litten laughs off cancellation reports
Benidorm creator Derren Litten has laughed off reports that his long-running comedy is to be axed.
The Sun last night claimed that ITV’s costa comedy was to be dropped after the current tenth series amid falling ratings.
And they reported that Litten is working on a new show for the BBC, set in a karaoke bar in Scarborough.
Without addressing the Scarborough rumour, Litten tweeted ‘don’t make me fucking laugh’ and pointed out that reports of Benidorm’s demise have run before – and turned out to be false.
And apparently The Sun are running a story tomorrow on how #Benidorm has been cancelled. Don’t make me fucking laugh 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 (I enjoyed that story after series 6. And 7 and 8 and 9...) 🌴

A total of 4.3 million viewers watched this week’s series opener — a 400,000 drop on last year’s launch, which itself was 600,000 down on the 2016 figure.
ITV gave no clue as to Benidorm’s future, saying only: ‘No decision has been made about a further series.’
Litten’s location information in his Twitter bio used to read London-Benidorm-Scarborough… although the final place has now been changed to New York.
The Sun’s story – after pointing out how much colder and rainier Scarborough is than Benidorm – concluded with a plug fro its reader holidays in the North Yorkshire report.
