Sharon Horgan has sold another comedy series to American TV.

Shining Vale is a horror-comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves to a small-town house that’s possessed by an evil spirit – but no one seems to notice except for the mother.

The show is described as being about ‘mental illness, small town politics, religion and a family battling their demons’.

Premium cable network Showtime has committed to a pilot episode, according to Hollywood website Deadline, which Horgan is writing with Jeff Astrof, co-creator of NBC’s crime documentary spoof Trial & Error.

 Shining Vale follows Horgan’s success in creating or co-creating Channel 4’s Catastrophe, BBC One’s Motherland and HBO’s Divorce.

She has also had several US pilots including a version of Dead Boss, the BBC Three series she created with Holly Walsh; Bad Management, about a self-centred female boss, and Bad Mom.
