Gilligan sells mo tickets

Comic fills London theatre 12 times over

Mo Gilligan has sold out 12 nights at London’s Leicester Square Theatre in 24 hours – despite having almost no mainstream profile.

Also known as Mo The Comedian, his success has come from social media, where his most popular character is The Geezer, who has the catchphrase ‘coupla cans’.

It is also the name of the tour – and even Drake quoted the catchphrase in an Instagram post from this year’s sun-kissed Reading Festival, when he said: ‘Enjoying this "Julie bring me a couple cans" weather today."'

Of his fast sell-out, Gilligan said: ‘I can’t believe it. Once again, thank you for the support. This is truly overwhelming.’

Gilligan has also appeared as a brand ambassador for Adidas alongside Stormzy and hosted Tinie Tempah’s Ibiza closing party

A previous leg of the Coupla Cans Tour earlier this year was also a sell-out, including Birmingham’s 1,000 seater O2 Academy. To date, he has sold more than 15,000 tickets for his debut tour.

Gilligan has today added two more dates at the 400-seat  Leicester Square Theatre - April 20 and 21 – following the earlier sell-out.
