Paul Danan says he's making a BBC sitcom. BBC says no, he isn't

The BBC has denied that it working on a new sitcom with Celebrity Big Brother contestant  Paul Danan.

After his eviction from the house, the former Hollyoaks actor told The Sun he had lined up a role in a new comedy for the Corporation.

The show is called Barberz and is said to be similar to Channel 4’s hit, Desmond’s

He said: "It’s been a whirlwind. I’ve got a sitcom coming out – it will be a modern-day Desmond’s set in a London barber’s shop I’m really excited as acting is my passion and that’s what I want to be known for. I’ve had loads of messages of support from younger viewers who didn’t know who I was before.’

Reports of Barberz first surfaced in May, with  EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood, another former  Celebrity Big Brother contestant, and reality TV star Lateysha Grace also said to have roles.

The  series may be being developed independently, but a BBC spokesperson told Chortle: ‘No, we’re not working on this with Paul.’
