Dawn French drama to return

Sky 1 has ordered a second series of Dawn French’s love-triangle drama Delicious.

The Cornish-set series, which co-stars Emilia Fox, was a ratings hit for the channel when it launched in December. Its  average accumulated audience was1.87 million, making it the most watched UK drama series on Sky 1 for the year.

The first series revolved around chef Leo, played by Iain Glen, who was having an affair with French’s character Gina – his ex-wife. He died just as his current wife Sam (Fox) discovered the betrayal, and he narrated the series from beyond the grave.

Writer Dan Sefton is returning to the show, which will be directed by Clare Kilner. It is set to air later this year.

French said: ‘I am utterly delighted that there will be more of Delicious. It is that rare thing where everything from every department comes together well, and Dan is already cooking up some remarkable storylines. I can't wait to be back in Gina's apron, up to my elbows in flour and up to my neck in trouble. Bring it on!’

Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1, said: ‘Delicious delivered our largest average audience for a Sky 1 original drama in 2016, so we knew we had to put it back on the menu. Viewers can expect more love, more lies and more lip-smacking dishes to be served up next time around.’

Delicious will be executive produced by Phillippa Giles for Bandit Television and Anna Ferguson for Sky.
