Four episodes for 2016

Radio 4 has commissioned a second series of Hal Cruttenden’s sitcom Hal.

Four half hour episodes will be recorded next year.

Cruttenden said ‘Really excited that I’m being let loose on the airwaves again. It’s not even Christmas and I’ve already got my favourite present.’

Hal is co-written with Dominic Holland and co-stars Gavin Webster, Dominic Frisby, Anna Crilly, Ronni Ancona and Ed Byrne, and is produced by Open Mike

The first series aired in November last year, and its ‘unashamedly middle-class’ humour praised by the Radio Times, whose reviewer Jane Anderson said: ‘I laughed out loud, several times.

Cruttenden will also be on the Christmas edition of Live At The Apollo, which airs this Sunday. Josh Widdicombe, Nina Conti and TanyaLee Davis also appear.

Emma Sidi has taken great care to replicate the authentic feel of 1980s Spanish-language telenovelas in this spot-on parody, set in contemporary small-town England and which she describes as 'a bit Acorn Antiques, bit Garth Marenghi'.

At her mother's untimely funeral, Becky Hello (a typical British millennial as imagined by Mexican writers who have never been to the UK) discovers she has inherited a fortune. But it isn't long before nefarious family members begin to circle, and Becky must keep her wits about her if she is to avoid the same fate as her mother.
