THE finalists have been announced for the Amused Moose Laugh Off competition, which will be decided at the Edinburgh Fringe on August 9. The newish comics competing for the title are: Jay Hampson, Luke Courtier, George Lewis, Mo Gilligan, Colin Chadwick, Sophie Willan, James Loveridge, Tamar Broadbent and Daniel Audritt.

ENTRIES have opened for the second annual Edinburgh Comedy Poster Awards. Two designs will each win £1,500 – one decided by a panel of judges including Chortle's Steve Bennett and Times critic Alex Hardy, and the other an audience award. Entries can be uploaded here - where visitors can also vote on those already submitted.

Rufus Hound is to star in Trevor Nunn's The Wars Of The Roses – an adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry VI Parts I, II, III and Richard III not seen since 1963 – at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, from September 16. The former comic will play the Duke of Bedford and Bolingbroke in a cast that also includes Joely Richardson.

BRITISH expat stand-up James Mullinger has been nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for best one-person show for his tour Living The Canadian Dream. Winners are decided by public vote and handed out on September 13.
