Tracy Morgan 'more responsive' - but still critical

Lorry driver charged after fatal smash

More details of the injuries Tracy Morgan sustained in the car crash that also killed fellow comic Jimmy Mack have been revealed.

The 30 Rock star is 'a little more responsive' tonight, but remains in a critical condition and is expected to spend several weeks in hospital.

Morgan, a stand-up who came to prominence on Saturday Night Live, broke his femur, nose and ribs, when the limo-bus he was travelling in collided with a truck on the New Jersey Turnpike.

The 45-year-old comedian underwent surgery on his broken leg on Sunday morning, and his spokesman told TMZ.com: 'His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.'

Fellow comedian Ardie Fuqua is also in critical condition, and another stand-up, Harris Stanton, was treated and released. They were all travelling in the limo with Morgan and Mack, returning home after a gig in Delaware.

The driver of the truck Kevin Roper, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. Police believe he failed to notice slow traffic and swerved at the last minute, but smashed into the back of the limo, prompting a six-vehicle chain reaction.
