Monty Python release unheard track

Lousy Song features Graham Chapman

Monty Python have released a previously unheard track featuring Graham Chapman called Lousy Song.

The song, which Chapman devised with Eric Idle, was originally recorded during sessions for Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album in 1980.

However, it was not included on that release. It has bow been dusted down as a bonus track on the forthcoming re-release of the Monty Python Sings album, designed to tie in with the troupe's farewell dates at London's O2 Arena.

The song features Chapman dismissing as 'a heap of garbage' a ballad that Idle sings in the background.

Speaking about the track on on Simon Mayo's Radio 2 show, Idle said:'It was sort of improvised over a bad song I wrote.... But it's cute because it's Graham, and it's very off the wall.

'I couldn't tell if it was funny or not. It's absolutely a sketch and not a song."'

Monty Python Sings (Again) is out on June 9. Click here to pre-order.
