Sky Arts orders a second series

Sky Arts has ordered a second series of its acclaimed comedy series Psychobitches.

Rebecca Front will return as the psychiatrist in therapy sessions with some of the greatest women in history.

Taking part in the six new episodes are a catalogue of top comedy names: Sam Spiro, Sharon Horgan, Morgana Robinson, Michelle Gomez, Katy Brand, Doon MacKichan, Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Meera Syal, Cardinal Burns, Sheila Reid, Selina Griffiths, Zawe Ashton, Jack Whitehall and Frances Barber.

The show will go out sometime this autumn, and is co-written and directed by The League of Gentleman's Jeremy Dyson.

Front tweeted today: ‘Not sure when it'll go out, but it's mighty funny. And packed with amazing people.’

Executive producer Ben Cavey promised the series would be ‘just as clever, insightful and downright silly’ as the first. And commissioning editor, Saskia Schuster said it would include ‘lots of new characters, as well as re-visiting some of our favourites from series one’

The show started as a one-off in the Playhouse Presents strand in 2012, and its first series of six episodes last year garnered a raft of award nominations.
