Comedy to become a kids' book

Chris O’Dowd’s comedy series Moone Boy is to be turned into a series of children’s novels.

Macmillan Children’s Books has bought the rights to two books for a ‘substantial six-figure sum’, trade magazine The Bookseller reports.

Publisher Venetia Gosling said: ‘I loved the first Moone Boy TV series and saw immediately how well the characters and scenarios could work in book form.’

The novels, which will be illustrated, will be aimed at children aged eight and over. The first will be published in autumn 2014 and the second the following year.

Sky One will air the second series of Moone Boy, in the New Year, while work is advanced on a third series. It is written by O’Dowd with collaborator Nick Vincent Murphy.
