Eddie Large left critical after fall

Comic, 72, stumbled over road sign

Eddie Large is recovering in hospital after a serious fall nearly claimed his life.

The comedian was in a critical condition for a week after suffering a collapsed lung after tripping over a road sign near his home in Portishead, near Bristol.

Last night the 72-year-old spoke of his injuries as he recovered in Bristol Royal Infirmary,

'I really jarred my shoulders, cracked some ribs, then had a collapsed lung and pancreas issues. It really shook me up,' he told the Daily Mirror.

After a week on the critical unit and a week in high dependency, Large – real name Eddie McGinnis – is now on the road to recovery and hopes to be home with wife Patsy next week.

He also said he had healed the rift with his double-act partner Syd Little after reuniting at Norman Collier’s funeral.
