Fox orders Bordertown series

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is to make a new animated comedy, with immigration issues as an undercurrent.

Bordertown is based in a fictitious desert town near the US-Mexican border, and is about Bud Buckwald, a border patrol agent, who feels threatened by his hard-working immigrant Ernesto Gonzales.

The Fox network has ordered 13 episodes of the show from executive producers MacFarlane and his Family Guy collaborator Mark Hentemann, who is writer and creator of the new show.

The network is currently developing a number of animated shows, including one set at NASA created by Flight Of The Conchords' Bret McKenzie, as it seeks to refresh its Sunday night animation line-up.
