BBC1 sitcom for Kayvan Novak?

New pilot being shot

Fonejacker star Kayvan Novak is being lined up to star in a new BBC One studio sitcom.

Novak, who also starred in Four Lions, is among the cast of Homeboys, from first time writer Pete Jackson.

The show, about two twentysomething brothers still living with their parents in Manchester, was originally piloted as part of the Salford Sitcom Showcase last year.

Now a pilot is to be shot in front of a studio audience at Media City Salford on June 30, ahead of a possible series.

He will star alongside Sacha Parkinson, who played Sian Powers in Coronation Street, as well as Marc Pickering, Theo Barklem-Biggs and Charlotte Spencer.

One of the sons, David is a cocky damp-proofing salesman, while the other, Brian, is an agoraphobic who hasn’t left the house since he was eight.

Writer Jackson has previously created two other pilots, the semi-autobiographical sitcom Get Down Stay Down and Dad Club, while he has another comedy – about a zombie apocalypse – in development
