What's funny about Scottish politics?

Rory Bremner aims to find out

Rory Bremner is to present a one-off satirical programme about the Scottish referendum.

In Rory Goes To Holyrood, he will meet politicians, punters and celebrities, culminating with an exclusive gig at The General Assembly Hall in his native Edinburgh.

The comic, who has spent most of his life in England, said: ‘Coming back to Scotland in the run-up to the referendum, I realised I knew almost nothing about Scottish politics. Time I did. And why is there so little political comedy in Scotland outside the Parliament?’

Rab Christie, executive producer for The Comedy Unit, added: ‘As Scotland focusses on the big vote, it’s a great time to be looking for the funny bone of Scottish politics’

The show will air on BBC Scotland later in 2013.

The independence referendum will be held on 18 September next year, it was announced last week.
