More for Morgana

Impressionist developing BBC sitcom

Morgana Robinson is set to jump ship from Channel 4, with a new pilot sitcom for BBC Three.

She will play multiple characters in the new show, which is about a celebrity ‘who has suffered a public fall from grace and is having to rebuild her reputation’.

The ‘broad comedy’ is still in development and is yet to be commissioned, trade magazine Broadcast reports.

It is being produced by Running Bare Pictures, the production arm of her agents, John Noel Management. Her break came not through the usual Edinburgh Fringe showcases... but when Noel spotted her waitressing at a Soho restaurant. His company was also behind her Channel 4 series Very Important People and The Morgana Show.

At last year’s British Comedy Awards, where she was named best breakthrough artist, Robinson revealed that she was also working on a US sitcom starring her socially, and possibly mentally, challenged teenage character Gilbert.
