A pair of Jack's

Whitehall to record two TV pilots in a week

Jack Whitehall is to pilot two new TV vehicles – just a week apart.

He will be trying out a version of a chat show co-hosted with his dad, the showbiz agent Michael Whitehall, seven days after recording a music-based panel show for a potential E4 series.

Little is known about the panel show, other than that it will involve two pop stars and their teams going head to head to win the chance to perform at the end of the show.

But the two Whitehalls previously performed their chat show Backchat at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

It featured his dad sitting in an armchair and making barbed comments about his son’s behaviour as he quizzed celebrity guests including Miranda Hart. Producers of the TV pilot promise ‘bizarre insights’ from Whitehall Snr, whose clients included Judi Dench and Colin Firth.

The pair also appeared together as contestants on Channel 4’s Million Pound Drop last year, winning £300,000 for their charities.

Jack Whitehall is recording the E4 music pilot at BBC Television Centre on October 11 – and Backchat in the same building on the 18th. Both will have a live studio audience, so see our free tickets page if you want to watch the recordings.
