Over and Outnumbered

Series Five 'to be the last'

The next series of Outnumbered is to be the last, star Tyger Drew-Honey has revealed.

The teenage actor said that creators Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin did not want to extend the show 'just for the sake of it' and outstay its popularity.

A fifth series and a Christmas special will be filmed in November, but Drew-Honey told the Mirror: 'This series is the last series.'

'Never say never, but the directors and writers have said that they don’t want to do another.

'Some shows do go on too long and some of them are just making more series for the sake of it.'

Series five may not go out until late next year – with Drew-Honey saying the long gap was deliberate so new story lines could be developed for the younger child characters as they move into secondary school.

Drew-Honey will next be seen on BBC Three comedy Cuckoo opposite Greg Davies and Andy Samberg.
