Danny Baker to write new Jim Henson TV show

Danny Baker is to write the script for a new Muppets-style show for BBC One.

As Chortle reported earlier this year, the corporation was working with Muppet creators the Jim Henson Company on a Saturday teatime comedy entertainment show, provisionally titled No Strings Attached.

A non-broadcast pilot version has already been made, with Stephen Fry interacting with the puppets.

Baker broke the news of his involvement on Twitter, tweeting: 'I'm writing the new Muppet/Puppet show for BBC/Henson. There I've said it.'

Although best known for his radio work, Baker is an established writer, having penned Jonathan Ross's British Comedy Awards wisecracks for many years, as well as Chris Evans's scripts on TFI Friday.

The new show comes on the back of the success of the Muppets film; while a separate Muppets TV series is being made in America.
