Montreal fest reveals its line-up – including The Muppets

Montreal’s Just For Laughs comedy festival has unveiled its 2012 line-up – with The Muppets hosting two prestigious gala shows.

The festival has put together a star-studded line-up to mark its 30th anniversary, including Aziz Ansari, Chelsea Handler, Jeff Garlin, Jim Gaffigan, John Pinnette, Lewis Black, Marc Maron, Patton Oswalt and Amy Schumer.

Robbie Praw, who is head of the bilingual festival’s English programming said: ‘The Muppets are among the most incredible gala hosts we’ve ever landed.’

British stars heading to the invitation-only festival will be Greg Davies, Adam Riches, Doc Brown, Josh Howie and Terry Alderton; while Jimmy Carr will host the Britcom showcase.

Tommy Tiernan, who has proved himself a Montreal favourite, will also be returning, while the Australian contingent includes Adam Hills, Dave Hughes and Sam Simmons.

The festival has, in recent years, encouraged more solo shows over the short TV-friendly sets which it has traditionally demanded. This year Hannibal Buress, Wayne Brady and Jim Jefferies are among those performing full-length shows.

The English-language part of the festival runs from July 22 to 28.
