Cast announced for Julia Davis comedy

Familiar faces in Sky series

Sky has announced the cast of Julia Davis’s new historical sitcom, Hunderby, as production gets under way.

Alexandra Roach, who played the young Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, will star as Helene, a shipwreck survivor washed ashore near a small English village. There, she is swept off her feet by widowed pastor Edmund, who will be played by Alex MacQueen, the quietly sinister ‘blue-skies advisor’ Julius Nicholson from The Thick Of It .

Davis, best known for Nighty Night, plays the housekeeper, who interferes with their relationship.

Alexander Armstrong has a role as a priest, Kevin Eldon is a ‘mysterious hunchbacked figure from Helene’s past’ and Rufus Jones, who played Terry Jones in Holy Flying Circus, will be a doctor.

Hunderby, which will go out on the premium Sky Atlantic, is being made by Baby Cow – whose credits include Gavin and Stacy and the Mighty Boosh – with Armando Iannucci among the executive producers.
