575,000 DVDs sold in a single day

The Inbetweeners movie has become the fastest-selling comedy DVD of the year, shifting 575,000 copies on its first day of release.

It follows a cinematic success that netted £45million at the box office this summer.

Only Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows has sold faster in 2011 – and it has outsold the second DVD in this week’s chart, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, by a factor of four.

Head of 4DVD David Root said: ‘We are really blown away by this result. Back when the idea of this movie was conceived, we all hoped it would be a success but no one could have imagined success on this level. ‘
