Gavin & Stacey: The musical?

Ruth Jones has plans...

Gavin & Stacey could be returning – as a West End musical.

Star Ruth Jones, who co-wrote the series with James Corden, has revealed that they have plans to turn it into a stage show.

‘We’d love to do Gavin & Stacey: The Musical,’ she said. ‘I know it is something James wants to do, too.

‘I saw Billy Elliot on stage the other day and I thought it would be something good to do. It’s something I would definitely be up for.’

Jones has previously said there would ‘definitely’ be another episode of Gavin & Stacey, but that she and Corden found it difficult to find the time. She is making a ten-part comedy called Stella for Sky, while new dad Corden is receiving rave reviews for his role in the West End play One Man, Two Guvnors.

But Jones said there was no rush as Gavin & Stacey ‘has the sort of characters you can go back to and dip into their lives at any time’.
