Hangover 2? That was my life
Man sues over movie plot
An American man is suing the producers of The Hangover 2 – claiming they ripped off his life story for the plot.
Michael Alan Rubin says that in 2007 he married a Japanese woman, but had a row on honeymoon in India. He then met a Bollywood producer who gave him a starring role in several films.
In his lawsuit, he says he wrote up his experiences as a movie, Mickey And Kirin, which he deposited with the Writers Guild of America.
But Rubin is not only suing for breach of copyright, but also defamation, because the character he thinks is based on him, Stu, proposes to a ladyboy prostitute while on drugs.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rubin’s lawsuit claims: ‘The production of Hangover 2 was a result of infringement of the Plaintiff's treatment Mickey And Kirin and exploitation of the private real life of Plaintiff in an insulting manner.’
Rubin is representing himself in the legal action.
