Comic shoots pilot show for E4

Stand-up Tom Allen is working on a new E4 reality show which tries to bring couples back together through a ‘series of ever more audacious stunts’.

He is fronting a pilot episode of a show provisionally titled Date Me Baby One More Time, in which one partner desperately tries to win back their ex.

According to the broadcaster: ‘The show highlights the cringey, humiliating and ultimately romantic lengths broken hearted Romeos and Juliets will go to to get their partners back’.

Channel 4 Commissioning Editor David Williams said: ‘We're thrilled to be working with Tom again at E4. With his disarmingly charming ways and extensive collection of rom coms, he is the perfect conduit through which we hope to reunite some deserving E4 viewers with their better halves.’

Allan, who won both So You Think You’re Funny and the BBC New Comedy Award in 2005, plays Pip Bin in Radio 4’s comedy Bleak Expectations, and previously appeared on Channel 4’s TNT Show.

The pilot – which won’t be broadcast – is being made by Twenty Twenty Productions., whose chief executive Tim Carter said: ‘This show is a great addition to our growing slate of entertainment formats.’
