...but David Schwimmer isn't involved

Comedy Central has commissioned an opera based on the long-running sitcom Friends.

However producers have denied reports that star David Schwimmer is involved with the project.

The opera marks the channel’s coup in poaching the sitcom from E4. It will be staged in London on September 28, two days before the series starts on Comedy Central.

Cast and crew have not yet been announced, but yesterday it was reported that Schwimmer was ‘on board’.

However a spokesman told Chortle today: ‘Unfortunately David Schwimmer is in no way involved in the production.’
