Patrick Monahan wins Show Me The Funny

£100,000 first prize

Patrick Monahan has won the £100,000 first prize in ITV’s reality programme Show Me The Funny.

He triumphed over fellow finalists Dan Mitchell, who came second, and Tiffany Stevenson, third, at the live final at the Hammersmith Apollo tonight.

His prize, the biggest in comedy, also includes a DVD deal and the headline slot on a nationwide Show Me The Funny tour, which kicks off on September 17.

After being named winner on the strength of audience phone vote, Monahan said: ‘I vant believe I’ve won. Thank you.

‘I’d like to say thank you very much. I’m shocked, I thought I’d go out after the first week. everyone’s been’s so good.’

Before the results were announced, Copstick said that if Monahan won it would ‘change him from the bridesmaid into the bride’.

Fellow judge Alan Davies said all the acts were ‘so much better and stronger’ for having taken part in the six-week competition.
